The music world has lost a giant.
Most of you will not have heard of Jay Ricketts, but to those in the internet music world he will always be known as Dafduc. An amazing musician and a wonderful human being, Jay passed away in his early fifties due to an aneurysm. He children and grand-children will miss him deeply, as will the rest of the music world.
I met the man at a gathering of internet musicians in Stoney Creek, Ontario in the spring of 2005. He was a tall man, must have been near 6'6", and a dead wringer for Eric Clapton. His talents however lay not on the guitar, but behind the ivories. He was a phenomenal keyboard player, contributor to many basement recordings which bring happiness to the lives of oh so many non-professional musicians.
Here's a shot of us jamming out that weekend in 2005.
His virtuosity as both a keyboardist and vocalist is on display in this version of Werewolves of London
Jay you will be missed. Thanks for the good times.
