Woah. Weird. For those of you that use TypePad blogs (and I know that for most of my readers this bit will be irrelevant -- so why do I write it? because it surprised me, and is therefore part of my week and part of my update -- my that was snarky...but I digress) I just noticed they changed the format of the 'compose' page. Nicer layout in my opinion.
On to the good stuff though. This week was kind of ho-hum as far as things go. Work has been on a steady decline for the last three weeks since the chain went into administration. Most of the employees don't bother selling anything anymore, and spend their days watching Family Guy and movies streaming off the net, or they play cool web games (www.stickpage.com has some good ones). I've been trying to keep up the dignity of the company I work for, but it gets tough when chaos begins to reign all around you, and I will confess to watching the occasional episode of Family Guy (Petarded is a classic!).
On the music front, some changes are afoot as a can of worms has been opened in the band, and now either the worms have to be eaten or shoved back in the can to fester until later. Some members are frustrated by the pace of things, and some are frustrated by the push to accelerate the pace without having stronger songs (or lyrics). There is potential for this to be the end of the band, or it could be that we figure out how to move on and create some kick ass songs. Bands are weird in that they are a lot like intimate relationships, except that instead of just having to figure out your partner and work together, you have to figure out 3 partners. So I guess it's like a polyamorous relationship, without the sex.
One thing that this has led to in my mind is that after the wedding, upon our return to London, I am going to make Beware! The Leopard my top priority. So far I have allowed the Band and other things to take precedence, but no longer. My music has to come first. It's the only way I'll manage to get anywhere in this industry.
So that's it for this week. I went to see MGMT on Wednesday, but that review will come in a couple of days.
Cheers,
The Leopard
